Snowbound what?

With all this crazy non-stop snow covering more than just our Northern hemisphere your first instinct is probably to stay inside. However, outdoor settings make for the best, most gorgeous pictures - so I say don't be snowbound! Get out there - yes, in the cold - and make the best of this beautiful snow. I came across this picture and immediately fell in love. I already have a thing for galoshes... and this snow filled image using them as the perfect pop is just wonderful. Matching galoshes, or mixing them up - it's a great way to get some shots out in this cold while keeping your toes out of the snow. I think a shot of a little snow ball fight would be cute too!

Golden February: Ceremony Details

Golden February continues with ways to add royal gold touches to your wedding ceremony, including some great DIY projects for budget friendly planning.

Vintage gold decor. Ball jars sprayed gold and filled with flowers - handing from pot hangers to line the aisle. You can reuse these as centerpieces at your reception, OR make great parting gifts 

to mothers and grandmothers.

Gold directional arrows. Use gold to lead the way. A great touch to help your guests.

 

Gold touch to programs. Gorgeous and easy to DIY. Such an elegant addition and classy touch.

Here comes the BRIDE! How adorable to have your flower girl holding a sign as she struts herself down the aisle. As if she wasn't going to have enough "awww's".

Chair decor. Adding ribbon can help add color and texture to your ceremony. Tying it to your chairs is easy but time consuming. So if you don't have a large team of helpers, you can just put this gorgeous addition on the chairs outlining your aisle, or to the first row or two to reserve seating for immediate family.

Spray candelabra gold and fill with gorgeous flowers to line your aisle with. To make good use - after the ceremony, have your ushers carry them to your reception area.

Gold monogrammed aisle runner. I love aisle runners - they add custom touch to your ceremony space. After your wedding, you can cut out the monogrammed section and have framed for a beautiful and sentiment wall piece.

 Bridesmaid dresses. The biggest statement you can make is with your bridesmaids dresses. Having  your girls walk down in glam gold dresses will sure to set the royal tone for your ceremony.

Dress Necklines

Choosing your bridesmaids' dresses can be almost as stressful as picking your own wedding gown. You have to find a style that works well with {all} your girls - and since pretty much every girl's body is different, this can be very tricky!

A lot of brides are going the approach of mixing things up. It's hard to please every girl with the same dress design, so but picking a few for them for your bridesmaids to choose from will eliminate the headache and heartache of needing to look good in that {one} dress. Just make sure all the dress styles look good together and are all by the same designer. And of course available in your color! I personally like mixing fabrics too, chiffon with satin, maybe even taffeta. Just make sure all the materials' colors go with each other. Be aware that coloring may vary from fabric to fabric.

If settling on the dress(es) wasn't enough, adding accessories to the mix seems like it would be an easy decision - but depending on the neckline of your girls dresses, it can be frustrating knowing what will work. So here's some help with some great Harley Mae designs to guide your way.

The most popular neckline is the sweetheart and works well being paired with a statement necklace that is at a medium length - like 18"-20". This fills the space between the collar bone and necklace. If the necklace is too short it may cut the head off from the rest of your body.

I've been seeing more and more of more unique necklines like the illusion and asymmetrical. I personally love them, but they can be tricky to accessorize. You can pull off a necklace - but keep it delicate and simple. Another great way to set off these more covered dress styles - including halters and boat necks -  is to go with a bracelet or cuff.

The best style to give your larger bust bridesmaids is through a tank or v-neck neckline. They give a little more support and make it possible for your girls to wear a proper bra. You can accessorize these styles best with a shorter necklace, even a beautiful shorter statement piece would go wonderfully and keep eyes off of any cleavage!

Picture Obsession

Alert! Picture obsession! I'm in love with this picture... the beautiful bouquet, stunning veil / headpiece, wow pearl necklace, and delicate bridal dress. What's not to love?

Here's a disection of this gorgeous photo...

1. Bouquet. This huge round bouquet is crammed with violet and ivory shades. Purple orchids, petite and opened cream roses, white spider mums, and violet peonies with dashes of dark greenery and dusty miller make up this sensational bouquet.

2. Veil. This birdcage veil is an eye-catcher and quite the statement piece! I found either the exact same one (on etsy) or one that comes so darn close I can't tell them apart.

3. Pearl necklace. Being a sort of pearl expert ;) I'd say my inspirational bride is wearing 16mm ivory pearls tapered to 12mm. The beautiful news is I can create this exact necklace with or without a signature Harley Mae ribbon tie. If you'd like to special order one, please email me.

4. Dress. This dainty dress is probably vintage or custom made.... so I wasn't able to find it. However, BHLDN (partnered with Antropologie) has some gorgeous vintage inspired designs worth looking at. This similar lace cap sleeve dress is a comparable and based on it's reviews is amazing in person!
